Ultrasonic Testing UT ：
a. Purpose: Detecting the interior discontinuities of wide variety materials.
b. Principle:
The frequency of ultrasound for industrial use is 0.5 MHz to 25 MHz. A typical UT inspection system are usually driven by a high voltage pulse generator/receiver that can generate high frequency ultrasonic energy through the piezoelectric effect of a transducer.
Signal travel time is related to the distance that the signal traveled. The signal provides information about the reflector location, size, orientation, and other features can sometimes be gained.
c. Application:
1) Weld joints of piping and structure.
2) Determine the integrity of materials.
3) Plates, forgings, castings and rolling stocks.
