Internal Rotary Inspection System(IRIS) ：
a. Purpose: Examining the wall thinning and pitting due to corrosion, erosion, and discontinuities from the internal or external of tubes.
b. Principles:
Using is an immersion transducer to focusing the incident wave on a 45° reflected mirror, and reflected the wave perpendicular entering the tube wall and being partially reflected from the inner surface of the tube, and the others transmit the wall and reflected from the outer surface of the tube. The difference in flight time between the inner and outer wall of the tube used to calculate the wall thickness. In addition, the water is pumped through a turbine via a probe cable and a rotating mirror is circumferentially scanned and advanced for fully inspection.
1). Normal Beam (to detect wall thinning and pitting)
2). Angle Beam( to detect discontinuities)
c. Application:
1) Heat exchanger and
2) Air Cooler
3) condenser.
4) tubes in the chemical, petrochemical, and power energy(nuclear) industries.
